Dr. Barun Gorain

CEO & Managing Director

Dr. Gorain has served the global minerals industry over 25 years in precious and strategic metals operations, capital projects and has delivered commercial value worth +US$ 1 billion through implementation of innovative and breakthrough metallurgical technologies in metals operations. 

Some of his key professional roles include Group Leader at Teck Resources in British Columbia, Canada, Director with Barrick Gold based in Toronto & Chief Technology Officer for Hindustan Zinc (Vedanta).

Dr. Gorain is the founder and managing director of Ore2Metal based in Toronto, Canada. Ore2Metal is a provider of advanced mineral concentration and eco-efficient metal extraction technologies for the production of critical and precious metals from low grade resources and mine tailings. We provide an integrated value chain support from metallurgical bench and pilot test program, project scoping & feasibility studies to process design and basic engineering.

Dr. Gorain holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Queensland in Australia, and a B.Tech in Mineral Engineering from the Indian School of Mines (now IIT) Dhanbad. He has co-authored several books, published over 50 peer reviewed technical papers and owns several global patents with commercial applications in production of copper and gold. Dr Gorain served as a board member for the JKMRC Sustainability Minerals Institute, Australia and also in the technical advisory committee for the Canadian Mining Innovation Council. Now an advisory board member in various Centres-of-Excellence of Australian Research Council and International Mineral Processing Congresses (IMPC).

Dr. V.I. Lakshmanan is a world-renowned hydrometallurgical expert with over 51 years of experience in the field of chemistry and metallurgy. Holding a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Bombay, Dr. Lakshmanan has led and contributed to 25+ projects in vanadium, titanium, and numerous other projects involving critical metals.

His extensive expertise has played a key role in solving complex challenges in the mining and hydrometallurgical industries. A visionary leader, Dr. Lakshmanan has spearheaded innovative solutions that optimize extraction processes, promote environmental sustainability, and add significant value to projects globally. His contributions have cemented his reputation as a global expert in hydrometallurgy.

His honours include Officer of the Order of Canada & Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award from the Govt of India. He has also received the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Award for his services to Canada.

Mr. Michael Hargett

Principal Advisor: Critical Metals USA & Canada

Mr. Hargett is the President of CVMR(USA) Inc. and a member of the board of directors CVMR Corporation. He manages the application of metal refining technologies using proprietary processes for US Government and Industrial customers. His responsibilities include sponsorship, strategic planning and leadership of new products, sourcing of materials, manufacturing and assimilation of technologies into new programs. He has served on the board of CVMR over 36 years.

His work experience includes:
General Director of Anchimeric Associates, a Marketing and Management consulting group. In his position he supported the utility, aerospace, aeronautical, government, and other emerging technology industries.

He served as Director of Business Development for QinetiQ-NA, Inc., responsible for strategic technology programs including mitigation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Chemical
Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Enhanced Conventional Weapons (CBRNE), Hydrogen Economy, and Asset Recovery.

Dr. Yemi Oyediran

Technical Director of Capital Projects & Operations

Dr. Yemi Oyediran is a metallurgical engineer with over three decades of experience in metallurgical development, operations, and engineering in the mining and minerals sector. He has held various roles in development, project engineering, metal production, technical support, management, and consulting.

Yemi has worked for both major mining companies and junior mineral exploration companies, focusing on base metals, green technology metals, and renewable energy production.  At Teck Metals' Trail Operation in Canada, he served in various technical, engineering, and production roles, aimed at enhancing Teck’s base, precious, and specialty metals businesses, including lead, zinc, copper, silver, gold, indium, and germanium. He has operational experience in autogenous lead smelting, drossing and refining, zinc fuming, leaching, and electrolyte purification. As Vice President of Hydrometallurgy, Yemi managed the hydrometallurgical group that focused on metallurgical development programs for a Green Iron Project.

Dr. Oyediran also has significant experience in mineral assets development, operations, process design, and engineering of critical technology and battery metals, including zinc, nickel, REE, indium, germanium, tellurium, manganese, niobium, zirconium, and scandium. Dr. Oyediran is a registered professional engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).

Preetham has 15 years of experience in the mining industry as a Senior Project Manager, Process Engineer and Subject Matter Expert in Ore Sorting. His experience spans all project stages, from testwork management, concept level design, due diligence, through to detailed design, commissioning and operations.

He has led projects over US$2 Billion in CAPEX in the precious metal and base metal sectors. He has prepared several NI 43-101 compliant Technical Reports.

Preetham holds a Masters Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a B-Tech Degree in Mining Engineering from NITK, India. Preetham currently serves as an executive member at the CIM Canadian Mineral Processors and leads the Community Outreach program. Preetham has published a thesis, a peer- reviewed journal, and several technical papers.

Dr. Sarma Kanchibotla

Technology Director: Advanced Mine to Mill

Dr. Sarma Kanchibotla has over 30 years of industrial and research experience in the fields of drilling, blasting and mine to mill process optimisation. Sarma was involved in the development and implementation of mine to mill optimisation concept at several global mining companies around the world, achieving significant improvements in mill performance and energy efficiency.

In 2002 Sarma received the AusIMM Mineral Industry Operating Technique Award for implementing the Mine to Mill project.

Sarma has also implemented several large projects for Australian Coal Association Research Programme (ACARP) in open pit blasting in coal mines. One of the innovative blast design – called “baby decking” from these research projects has been implemented by several open pit coal mines on a regular basis to reduce coal losses.

Sarma is now working on the Next Generation of Mine to Concentrator technology. The main aim is to achieve a step change in metal production, capital effectiveness, OPEX and energy signatures of the Mine to Concentrator value chain by developing and implementing novel feed preparation methods at the mine and novel comminution, classification and separation processes at the concentrator.
